Clinical Hypnotherapy Training

A second qualification you can add while you train with us as a counsellor.

Taught across 9 Saturdays
Additional learning hours 68
Units of study 17
Validated by ACCPH & GHSC

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention. Most people have been in one without noticing, absorbed in a book or driving a familiar route.

Hypnotherapy puts that state to work. In a relaxed, focused frame of mind, people can reach thoughts and patterns that are harder to shift in ordinary conversation. A hypnotherapist guides that process using imagery, suggestion and dialogue.

It sits naturally alongside counselling. You are still working with the same person and the same difficulties, with another way in.

What clients bring to it

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Habits and behavioural change
  • Fears and phobias
  • Performance, from public speaking to sport
  • Pain management

NICE also recognises hypnotherapy as an option worth considering for irritable bowel syndrome.

The detail

This is an add-on, not a standalone course. It is open to students training on our Level 5 Equivalent Diploma in Integrative Counselling, and to graduates who completed that diploma with us.

The training builds on the counselling skills and professional practice taught on that course, which is why it is not sold separately.

Seventeen units across nine Saturdays.

  • Session structure and induction
  • Effective voice usage
  • Components of the mind
  • Safety and modalities
  • Self hypnosis
  • The therapeutic relationship

  • Aversion therapy
  • Introduction to NLP
  • Representational systems
  • Anchoring
  • Therapeutic metaphor
  • Confidentiality and data protection
  • Therapeutic strategies

Three case studies minimum, independently sampled, plus ongoing assessment of your practical skills.

Validated by the ACCPH and the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council, underwritten by the CNHC. On completion you can register with the General Hypnotherapy Register and apply for CNHC registration.

This is a separate qualification from your counselling diploma, with its own learning outcomes and assessment.

Eligibility Checker

Welcome. This is your eligibility check for the Counselling and Clinical Hypnotherapy programme.

There is a real person at the other end of this, carefully reading every application. We will not add you to a mailing list or bombard you with emails.

  • Two references Name, relationship, email address, and phone number for each referee.
  • A summary of your education, qualifications, and employment You do not need certificates right now, just a brief overview. We will ask to see evidence at interview.
  • Disclosure information We will ask about any medical, psychological, or criminal history.
A brief summary is fine. Formal and informal learning both count.
Having a condition does not automatically prevent you from training. We ask so we can support you properly.
