What Do You Actually Study?
In your very first week you will begin exploring one of the most fascinating questions in psychology: what is the self? Who are you, really, beneath the roles you play and the expectations you carry? It sounds philosophical, and it is, but it is also immediately practical. Understanding yourself is where every good counsellor begins.
From there the course builds week by week, introducing you to the major theories and approaches that underpin modern integrative counselling. By the end of year one you will have covered more ground than most people realise is possible in that time.
What about the time outside the classroom?
Alongside your weekly session you will do some reading and occasionally a short piece of written work. Most students find three to four hours a week outside the classroom is enough to keep on top of things comfortably. Everything you need is accessible through the student portal whenever you need it.
The rhythm of it becomes natural surprisingly quickly. Within a few weeks most students stop thinking of it as going back to study and start thinking of it simply as their Tuesday, or their Thursday. It becomes part of the week rather than an addition to it.
“Far from what I once was but not yet what I’m going to be. That is what this course has brought for me.”
