What This Course Is About

This is a free taster course. It takes around two hours to complete, you can work through it at your own pace, and there is no pressure, no grade, and no commitment at the end of it.

It is designed for people who are curious about counselling training but are not quite sure if it is for them, or whether now is the right time. Maybe you have not studied since school. Maybe the idea of sitting in a classroom again feels a little daunting. Maybe you just want to know what you are getting into before you commit to anything.

All of that is completely normal, and this course was built with exactly that in mind.

What you will work through

1

Going back to the classroom

What adult learning actually looks like, what a typical week involves, and the worries most people have before they start.

2

How do you learn? Discover your colour

A simple, well-known model used by organisations across the UK to help people understand how they take in information and what kind of learner they naturally are.

3

A taste of the subject

A genuine look at what counselling is, one concept from the real diploma, and a brief introduction to why understanding yourself is where every good counsellor starts.

4

Is this the right time for you?

An honest look at what the diploma involves, the time commitment, and a simple self-checklist to help you decide whether now is a good moment to take the next step.

5

What happens next

If you decide you want to go further, we walk you through exactly what applying looks like and what to expect.

A note before you begin

There are short quizzes along the way, but they are not tests. They are there to help things stick and to make the course feel like more than just reading. You will also have one simple written activity near the end. It takes about five minutes and nobody marks it except you.

Each topic builds on the last, so we recommend working through them in order. But there is no time limit, no expiry, and no wrong way to do this.
