About this course

Committing to two years of study is a significant decision. Before you take that step, you deserve to know what the learning actually feels like, whether the subject genuinely interests you, and whether now is the right time in your life to do it.

This free course is not a watered-down version of the diploma. It is an honest, practical introduction designed to help you make a more informed decision. By the end of it you will have a clearer sense of who you are as a learner, what counselling training actually involves, and whether UK Therapy Guild is the right place for you.

  • You are considering counselling training but want to get a feel for it before committing
  • You have not studied for a while and want to know what going back to the classroom is actually like
  • You are drawn to psychology, personal development, or working with people in a meaningful way
  • You want to understand how you learn before investing in two years of study
  • You want to see real content from the Level 5 Diploma before you decide

How it works

Each topic contains a mix of written lessons, videos, short quizzes, and reflective activities. You will also complete two online assessments to discover your learning style and personality colour profile. Work through it at your own pace. There is no deadline and no pressure.

Your free gift

Complete this course before enrolling on the Level 5 Diploma and your certificate of completion entitles you to one free clinical supervision session, worth £50. Terms apply.

A note on the activities

Some activities invite you to reflect honestly on yourself and your reasons for being here. That is intentional. Self-awareness is not a warm-up for counselling training. It is the work itself.

What Will You Learn?

  • Discover how you learn best using the Insights colour model
  • Find out what going back to the classroom as an adult actually feels like
  • Get a genuine taste of what counselling training involves
  • Honestly assess whether now is the right time to start
  • Walk away having learned something real and completed something you can be proud of

Absolutely brilliant, so well put together. I feel like I've started to learn about counselling already and really enjoyed the self reflection work.
